GC Rosenquist was born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1966, and has been writing science fiction since he was ten years old. He moved out to Round Lake Beach, Illinois, in 1973 and hasn’t looked back. His earliest short stories were stories based on Star Wars but he gradually moved on to producing stories of his own creation and imagination. This was in the late 1970’s. He now resides somewhere in Lake County, Illinois, with his wife, Katrinka.
He has studied writing and poetry under the great Paulette Roeske-Reid at the College of Lake County in Grayslake, Illinois. His 12 previously published books include horror (Evermore), poetry (GC Rosenquist’s Super-Elastic Traveling Sound Circus), a comedic memoir (33 Terrific Tales of Lake County, IL), Sherlock Holmes pastiche (Sherlock Holmes and the Pearl of Death), lots of science fiction (Till Heaven and Earth Pass, Firefighter 2070, Nine Lives, Moonwalk, Second Coming), two critically lauded literary novels (The Opening and Closing of the Moon, The Funnel Flyer) and a children’s picture book that he wrote/did the art (The Tall Tales of Starman Steve). During the day he’s a graphic artist/marketing specialist. His short stories have appeared in “Martian Wave”, “Spaceports & Spidersilk”, “Sherlock Holmes Mystery Magazine” and “SNM Horror Magazine” magazines.
He is, as always, hard at work on his next novel.
His favorite novelists include: Ray Bradbury, Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clarke, H.P. Lovecraft, Mark Twain, Ernest Hemingway, Harper Lee and J.D. Salinger (but there are so many others!) He has such a love for the old EC Comics canon, all titles, that he counts them as among his deepest inspirations for writing.
Gregg’s son, Joshua, and his wife Amanda live in Ingleside, Illinois, and they have unselfishly supplied Gregg and his wife with four grandchildren (of which only one so far seems to love to read – you guess which one), Eves, Audrey, Connor Jayce and Sophie Bell.
Gregg’s website, www.gcrosenquist.com, has pretty much everything he’s published that can be bought and 20 free essays about the writing life (for those who are curious about a how a writer works and lives).
